Embodied AI – a critical next step towards AGI. Virtual talk
Plus: A video lecture on the 18 foundational challenges of LLM safety and alignment.
Hello, fellow human! Sophia here with a new announcement about our upcoming talk on cutting-edge AI research.
Next Thursday, September 5th, we’ll have a researcher from Huawei's Noah's Ark Lab to discuss what the next steps in AI research should be toward AGI.
Currently, advancements in LLMs are perceived as the path to AGI. Our guest argues that the embodied approach has the unique advantage of embedding AI in physical and perceptual experiences, thus being well-positioned to lead humanity to the AGI era.
Drawing from insights across philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, and robotics, together we will examine how Embodied AI expands the scope of cognitive architectures, integrating perception, action, memory, and learning in a cohesive framework.

A few weeks ago, together with a researcher from Cambridge University, we explored the foundational challenges (all 18 of them) of LLM safety and alignment. We covered topics ranging from our lack of understanding of language models' reasoning to challenges related to their development and deployment, as well as the social impact that comes with the dual-use of these models, among other issues.
